Perspectacles was something that as a school we wanted to use to enhance our overall culture with our students. Houston helped us to achieve our goal of getting student buy-in through his enthusiasm and spirit. His ability to grasp the attention of his audience is truly a spectacle. Over 700 staff and students listened as Houston shared his heart. Students talked about his stories and were motivated to make a change.
Our school choose to purchase Perspectacles to wear in school. Challenging the student who wore them to perform one random act of kindness. I feel strongly that our efforts would not have been as successful if it hadn't been for Houston's ability to get students to see things through the eyes of someone who had experienced both kindness and regret. The students connected with him on a "realistic level". Knowing his vulnerabilities showed that they too can make a change.
